I have a Volkswagen Caddy and I’ve been going there for over a year. They always do a great job. I do deliveries with my van and drive a lot of kilometres, so I’m there all the time. They’re also genuinely good people.

I cannot recommend the team at Autobahn Diagnostics Brookvale highly enough. My 2019 Audi A5 displayed a steering fault code on the dashboard, so naturally I took it straight to the Audi dealership. After running their diagnostics, they advised me the entire steering rack needed to be replaced along with a quote of over $8,000. This was on a car with only 90,000kms on the clock, and despite me repeatedly telling them that the steering itself felt completely fine and was driving without any issues whatsoever, they stood firm on their recommendation. After further investigation, I reached out to Autobahn Diagnostics. From the very first conversation, they listened — genuinely listened — and explained that there could well be an alternative explanation for why the fault code was appearing. Rather than taking the easy route, the Autobahn Diagnostics team invested significant time and resources into properly diagnosing the underlying cause of the issue. Their thoroughness paid off enormously — the fault turned out to be a software issue, which they meticulously rectified. The total bill? $225. What was most refreshing was the genuine enthusiasm that the Autobahn Diagnostics team showed when they finally identified the issue. It was blatantly obvious that they were more thrilled about identifying the root cause and saving their customer thousands of dollars than they would have ever been about simply replacing parts unnecessarily and profiteering from their customers. That level of integrity is incredibly rare and speaks volumes about the culture of this business. On top of their technical brilliance, the communication throughout the entire process was outstanding — regular updates, clear explanations in plain language, and never once making me feel like I was being taken advantage of. I always knew exactly where things stood. I had a great experience with Autobahn Diagnostics. The team were friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do. They took the time to properly inspect and diagnose an unusual steering noise on my Cupra, explained the issue clearly, and were transparent about the findings and repair process. Phil and the team really know the VAG vehicles. I called Phil about my mk7 Golf GTI when my normal VW specialist mechanic diagnosed it with a timing chain replacement for $6k (timing mismatch throwing codes and resulting in a rattly/rough engine once the engine warms up). I was surprised as the car has less than 120ks on it and timing chain is not a known failure on this model. Phil immediately agreed and talked through a few things that should be looked at first which was completely consistent with everything my extensive online research (through forums, youtube, etc) on the error codes that I was getting were pointing to. So I booked and took the car to Phil and within a half day, Phil located a possible fault and suggested that repair (VVT magnets and valves) as a start which could address the issue. The suggested repair was carried out and the car has been running smooth since. I have found a new mechanic for my GTI! Thanks Phil and team.

Phil and the team are such a pleasure to deal with! Professional, kind and transparent communicators. They walked me through the replacement parts and where the work was done on my car. Their workshop is super clean and minimalist tidy which makes a great first impression. Would highly recommend. Best to plan ahead for your next service, i.e., don’t leave it last minute.

Phil found the cause of a fault that 3 different Audi service centres could not. Despite the car being under warranty, Audi could not find the reason for a shudder in the drivetrain and basically gave up. Phil continued to think through eventually recommending a fix which has completely worked. If you have any needs with an Audi, Autobahn Diagnostics are uniquely good.

Used Autobahn recently for a 5-year service on my VW. They were really clear up front with what would be included in the major service. (Two other mechanics, including VW themselves couldn't actually give me a list of the work to be done.) Great service and also covered the specialist stuff, like properly cleaning the Haldex pump filter, including before and after photos. Highly recommended.
