NSW E-Safety checks

If your vehicle’s registration renewal date is approaching within six months, we can also simultaneously perform your E-safety check (also known as a car rego check or Pink Slip). Opting for this service during your regular maintenance visit adds convenience and enhances efficiency, allowing you to handle both needs in one appointment.

An e-Safety check can be conducted up to six months before the registration expiration date. Only authorised inspection station can perform an safety check. When scheduled alongside your routine service, the e-safety check is seamlessly integrated into the overall service.

Alternatively, you can choose a time that suits you best for the E-safety check, avoiding last-minute confusion and hassle. Our commitment is to provide choices that align with your convenience, making vehicle maintenance smooth and cost-effective.

Common asks

  • How long does an e-safety check typically take?

When you schedule your e-safety or rego check, please allocate approximately 30 minutes to an hour. The process involves conducting a road test, checking for signs of leaks from the engine and driveline, inspecting the vehicle’s lights, and lodging an E-Safety check with Transport for NSW (TfNSW), all in accordance with NSW regulations. If you have any questions or concerns before or during the inspection, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

  • What happens if the inspection fails?

When your vehicle passes the inspection, it typically receives a pink slip, issued electronically, confirming its roadworthiness. If your vehicle fails to meet the required standards, you are generally given a set time frame to complete the necessary repairs or adjustments. After these rectifications, the vehicle must be presented for a re-inspection. You have the option to select where to get these issues fixed or can utilise our workshop to undertake necessary repairs.

  • How long can a car be unregistered in NSW?

If the registration expired more than 3 months ago, you’ll need to re-register the vehicle. Note: If an unregistered vehicle is parked on a road or road-related area and the registration is more than 15 days overdue, the Police can seize the number plates. If this occurs, the vehicle will need to be re-registered

  • Can you drive your car the day the rego expires?

No, you cannot legally drive your car on the day of registration expiry in NSW. Once expired, your vehicle is unregistered and uninsured. Driving it is illegal except in specific circumstances for obtaining registration. You have 3 months to renew, but late renewal doesn’t extend the expiry date.
